We Built This City Window Display

Eloisa adding some final touches.
This winter we made a mini city window display at Road Less Traveled! It's pretty cool what you can make from something that would have gone into the trash. We used cardboard boxes, markers, paint, cotton balls, fishing wire, box cutters & Christmas lights. We all had a blast putting this display together thanks to the reggae Christmas playlist on Pandora, highly recommended :) Stop by the shop to see in person!

ENJOY!

Tones of grey, tan and bronze @ Road Less Traveled

My view walking to the shop.
I recently stopped in at Road Less Traveled to work on the window displays. While I was there I took a few shots inside the shop to show you whats going on and whats in stock. There seemed to be a trend of grey's, tans, bronze and black. Below are some shots...and stay tuned because the super-cute window display we made will make its debut in a few shorts moments!

Dia De Los Art Walk

Mother Mary and Cats eyes oh my.
I really love this tank I found at Urban Outfitters. Normally I don't shop there because they are over priced and "hipstered" out. But this tank was calling my name. It was the perfect thing to wear for Dia De Los Muertos in Downtown Santa Ana. So I wore it and guess what? I got a ton of compliments! Also the cat eye ring added an extra creepo vibe to my already strange look I was rocking that night.

Creepiest window display in Santa Ana.

Give people chalk and art will happen.

This is right before the light show that blew our minds more than the horrible tequila they were serving.

Weekend at Leighs

Gotta love it!

I absolutely love spending time with my sister and her girlfriend. Their apartment is one of my weekend destinations for sure. On one of my recent weekend visits we went to lunch at Paninoteca Maggio in Santa Ana. Great place for a quick bite. Its quite small err intimate might I add. But definitely full of charm as you can see in the pic above :) Of course this was just the beginning of our weekend adventure that Saturday afternoon. So off we were to the Mexican market to load up on spirits and prep for a very, umm strange movie night. Have you ever seen Troll, Labrynth, Strange Sex or Human Centipede II?
Lets just leave it at that...

You know whut I'm saying?

Say ello to my little friend!

Strange statues at the market.
Bang Bang pinata time.

What if god was one of us?

Lofts & Art Walks

The DJ Station.

A random night spent with friends in Downtown Santa Ana Art Walk can lead to the most interesting of venues. After bar hopping got old we ventured out into the streets for a more acquired taste of night life. What did we find? Well, a loft party of all things. Nothing special really as far as parties go. But the loft it self was impressive. So I took a few shots to show you the place. The best part was the rooftop view. I got the butterflies in my stomach climbing the ladder up. Don't even get me started with all of the drunks who looked like they were 2 seconds away from falling over the edge of the rooftop...

Miss Turkey? Is that you?

Tales of DIY TeePee's & Merchandising

A  quick sketch of our window display that I did envisioned.

You always start with a theme, that is where you begin to draw things together and get excited about window displays. This is exactly what happened when we decided to go with a Native American/Southwestern theme theme at RLT. I thought this theme would work for the store because we have a natural living and DIY presence and clientele. Take a look and see how it all came together.

Eloisa did an awesome job painting the TeePee for us! Thank you :)

We began installing the Teepee and troubleshooting how to make it stay up.

A view from behind (we merchandised this so it looks different).
Standing on a very tall ladder in a short dress...attaching the palate to the ceiling.

Check out the shot of the teepee up close. The designs were made from strawberry boxes and blocks of wood.

Putting the tools away and getting ready to see our final results.

There she is our Native American Southwestern window display in all her glory! Don't you love how the Teepee is lit up!
We are all so excited about how this window came out! Thanks to my ladies Eloisa and Leigh for doing a wonderful job designing and installing!

Everyday Neon

I make it look easy :)
I would have to say that one of my favorite things to do is design window displays! It is a great mix of fashion and interior merchandising. So how could I not love this? This past summer at Road Less Traveled we featured two of my displays that I made from recycled materials, plastic cups and cardboard boxes.

My vision was bright neon, graphic, everyday items in unusual forms. I absolutely love how it all came together in the end. Take a look below, and as always Im available for consultations for window display services. Let me know.

The cups were painted to resemble the blanket.

A view from outside.

Ladders and Neon Cardboard sparked interest in onlookers.

Patchwork Point Of View

About a month ago I volunteered at my 5th Patchwork for Delilah's Backyard In a Jar and it was the most insanely busy show yet! With Road Less Traveled re-locating back in Feb we brought along Patchwork to the new Downtown Santa Ana location. The show brought a couple thousand people that memorial day weekend! I was running around from the jam van to the shop and along the way tried to take some pics to show you my perspective. So take a look below, and thanks to my friends who came by that day to support local crafters, artists, designers, musicians and restaurants. Sorry if I was busy and couldn't talk for long.

Loved this DJ set up. Are those not the most crazy speakers!
The music coming out of them was just as insanely good. Dub, hip hop etc.

The crowds were already forming at 11am.

Everyone would walk by Yogaworks and stop and stare at the crazy moves their instructors were doing.
BTW we have a free Yogaworks workshop each Sunday in the month of July at Road Less Traveled

Chef Raya Belna's pop-up cupcake shop inside Road Less Traveled was a big hit.

There was a non stop line in front of the ice pop cart!

After most of the vendors were gone for the day this is what the promenade looked like. Oh and I have to mention this photo has not been instagramed! Im just that good :)

Hope you enjoyed my POV of Patchwork!
