Bossa Nova

For anyone who ever thought that Bossa Nova was just a way of passing the time in an elevator, you're not only ignorant, you're missing out on a wonderful genre of music. Bossa Nova is a Brazilian style of music that was introduced in the late 1950's by Antonia Carlos Jobim, Vincius De Moares and Jao Gilberto.
The first Bossa Nova song "Bim Bom" and made popular by Gilberto's wife Astrud, who also sang the most popular and well known Bossa Nova song "The Girl From Ipanema". Now we have a set of new artists that pay homage to the 1950's style of music. Bebel Gilberto, Koop and Nouvelle Vague just to name a few. FYI this weekend I will be going with one of my friend's to see SERGIO MENDES @ The Hollywood Bowl! Cant wait.

Acapulco Goes Gold with Trina Turk

Last week, Thursday July 15th was Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2011 in Miami, Florida. The show's opening designer was none other than the fabulous Trina Turk who is a Los Angeles based designer. The new spa & swim wear collection for 2011 was inspired by vintage designs and vacations in Acapulco, Mexico. There is a lot of gold, bold prints, hats, turquoise, sunglasses and cork sandals. Swimsuits have a distinct flair to them and the beach totes and cover up's are the finishing touches for that vacation you've been planning on taking.
Start saving your dollars because you're going to want this collection, and then you're going to need to get out of town and flaunt it.
Enjoy photos of Trina Turk's debut at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2011!

Vitrina Salon & Spa

Last semester I took a lighting class and my final was to design and name a salon located in Beverly Hills CA. We got to use the actual floor plans for a salon that was being designed by my instructor. I decided to show you all my project. Let me know what you think.

Vitrina Salon & Spa has a warm color palate that instantly leads you into a chill state of mind. The lighting fixtures I chose are a blend of organic wood and metals that are both interesting to look at and give enough light for any given situation.
My inspiration for Vitrina Salon are the beach's and resorts of Ipanema, Brazil. There are subtle sensual hints of tasteful nudity within the space.
When you walk in look for the big hand, that is where the receptionist will be waiting to make an appointment for you. After doing so sit in a lovely floating rattan chair while the Vitrina prepares for your treatments.
All of the walls are covered in tranquilly chill artwork by REX RAY and a few vintage magazine travel a…

Eat Pray Love

Alright so who else is excited to see this film next month? I have to say that this summer hasnt really had too many movies that caught my attention so Im happy to have Eat, Pray, Love on the list of debuts. It will give me something to look forward to in August when summer starts swindling away because of Fall session.
Upon watching the trailer I was inspired to make a little outfit to wear when the day comes to go watch the film. Are you excited to see this film, or have you seen other films already that you thought were cool for summer?

Red, White & WTF

Now thats the spirit
As a child I fell in love with the 4th of July and all of its red white and blue festivities. As a so-called adult I think that its just not the same. I wish I could borrow someones kid to live vicariously through. I want to watch the 4th of July parades, eat american flag cake, drink sugary soda, run barefoot on the grass, hold a sparkler till it just about burns your finger tips & finally, watch the fireworks while listening to the star spangled banner. That pretty much sums up my most memorable 4th of July that co-encided with a pretty large family reunion in Connecticut. So far nothing has even compared to that 4th of July when I was all of 13 years old, that was a different time, place and state of mind. Now I will go back to my lonesome backyard and sit in the sun, soda in hand and book in mind.
