Trina Turk Fall LOOK BOOKS

The countdown to fall starts now. Can you believe that the first day of fall (September 23rd) is less than a month away? How can I even be thinking of what to be wearing in cold weather when it is literally 100' degrees here in So Cal. I guess I'm almost ready for that change of pace as far as weather goes. I know that the next month will be going by super fast because I started school almost 2 weeks ago, and am now very tired and overloaded. I'm taking 4 classes 3 design one academic. So you might be thinking I like to make myself suffer, I prefer to think of it "as getting shit done". When it comes to school I have no more time to waste, I just need to keep focused and rested not to mention...work. What is that saying? "And this too shall pass"? That is how I feel right now, especially about my space planning class.

Lets move onto a more fun topic like what will I wish to be wearing when heaven forbid it gets COLD and everyone freaks the hell out and wishes it was HOT again. My inspiration for fall clothing comes from the Trina Turk look books 1-3 shot by her husband, photographer Jonathan Skow. I think that I could work alot of the designs and styles that she produces.

Vanilla Chai memories

Whenever I see this bottle of Bolthouse farms Vanilla Chai I'm instantly brought back to my summer 2007 vacation in Florida. I haven't been back since 08 because I never can go when the family is going.
Now every August I feel like something is missing and I know its the annual summer trip to grandmas. Mhmmh...oh well there's always next year.
Today I twisted open a bottle of this chai and poured it over a cup of ice and instantly feel as if I'm back there, on the boat trip we all took that summer.
There's half of the clan checking out the celebrity homes.
The family my aunt works for rented out this boat for a lazy afternoon tour of Hutchinson Island, so relaxing and that my friends is where I had my first sip of that vanilla chai as well as some interesting whole foods to-go platters. I'm sure I will always remember this trip, till the next one.

Is there an item or beverage that brings back a summer memory to you?
If so do share...

The Bruery

At least once every other week I have been making it a point to visit the Bruery in Placentia, CA to try their unique hand crafted beers. So far I have had my fair share of tastings and I decided on my top three favorites so far.

Here they are:

Brewed with 17 lbs. of yams per barrel (in other words, a lot of yams!), this autumn seasonal is a different take on the “pumpkin” beer style. Brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla, molasses, and maple syrup, and fermented with our traditional Belgian yeast strain, this bold and spicy beer is perfect on a cold autumn evening.
ABV: 10%, IBU: 25, SRM: 15, Release: Fall

-When I tried this beer I felt like it tasted like Thanksgiving in a cup. It was really rich and good for sipping while in a deep seeded conversation. I could really taste all of the ingredients listed in it and if you like "pumpkin ale" you will love the Autumn Maple.

Mischief is a Hoppy Belgian-Style Golden Strong Ale. This wickedly good golden ale is fiendishly dry-hopped with American hops to add a layer of complexity and mystery to its fruity, dry Belgian-style character. Citrus and resin diabolically combine with ripe melon, pear and slight peppery spice in a precariously effervescent mixture. Enjoy it, but you'll want to keep an eye out.
ABV: 8.5%, IBU: 35, SRM: 5, Release: Limited Year-Round

-Kendra picked this one out for Marcel to try, he is usually an IPA kinda guy so this made him hoppy. It is for sure citrusy and spicy as stated.

Humulus Rice
With a whole lot of rice left over after brewing Trade Winds, we decided to experiment with a hoppy beer brewed with a large amount of rice used in the malt bill. The result was a perfect lawnmower beer. Light, coconutty and just enough hops to refresh you on a hot day.
ABV: 5%, IBU: 20, SRM: 2

-This beer is my standby beer so far I have gotten it every time I visit the brewery. Its very frothy on top and so light that you almost drink it too fast, very refreshing.

Hey everyone it's Maggy reporting to you live from a backyard in California under a towel attempting to type and sun bathe. I have been out and about lately so that means less blogging. But today I wanted to share with you some items that I think are perfect for the last month of summer before it becomes cold, dreary and everything that this summer has basically been already. I kid, this Summer was the first one that I didn't have to break out my a/c...amazing. And right now at 5pm in Southern California its a cool 75' in the sun...huh?

Fall clothing may be rolling out along with The September Issue...but for mow I'm still living in Summer-ville. Without much further ado I welcome my last few items of my
Summer Wish List.

Ramona Hoodie-Hollister
OK so I normally don't shop at Hollister because most of their clothes don't fit my non 12 year old body. However I do own a hoodie similar to the one below and it is so comfortable that I'm contemplating getting myself another one.

Grace Bay Paisley Smocked Dress-Tommy Bahama
I spotted this dress yesterday while browsing at Tommy Bahama in Corona Del Mar. I'm hoping it might go on sale soon. It looks really pretty in person and tube dresses are one of my favorite styles for summer. Easy on and off.

Teetoe Sandals -Simple
I was at Henry's market today shopping for groceries with my mom, while browsing womens health magazine I saw these sandals and thought to myself "me want". Eco-friendly sandals that are actually pretty cute? Something I didn't expect...made from recycled tires, hemp, cork and water based glue. Cool huh.
