Wandering Uptown Whittier

Some days are just meant for wondering, don't you think so too? I don't have the luxury of dropping my full time job and traveling the world so instead I randomly go on what you might call day trips, er more like a couple hour trips to get my mind and body away from the norm of daily life. To me one of the most fun things is to find something new even if its a shop I found on Instagram  that is a 25 min drive away. I think it all goes back to our animal instincts of Hunter & Gatherer.

I have been following this store Local Fixture on Instagram for quite some time. All of their pictures are so cute and the products they carry are some of my favorite brands! They have a great online presence and I was so pleased when I walked into the store to see that it is just as inviting to curious minds and the ambiance is inviting! Their entry table features Frasier Fir candles that smell like Christmas!

If you love Voluspa candles they have every scent and their reasonably priced. My favorites are sake lemon flower and Santiago huckleberry but honestly I could smell all of them and be in heaven.

The center of the store features children and baby clothing, accessories, books and toys. You will be saying that's cute like a million times. Trust me, I did!

One thing I really liked about this store is there is a built in coffee shop! They serve Stumptown roasters which is always a smooth coffee in my opinion. Anthony was my Barista, he was so knowledgeable and friendly and he made me a killer latte!

Oh look, there's my latte! Check out Local Fixture for the cute gifts and goodies and stay for the coffee!

I walked by this window front and was attracted to the simplicity of it so I of course had to go in and look at Haute Mess.

Haute Mess is two boutiques in one and features a boho luxe side as well as a more casual everyday side. Love the space how light and airy it feels.

The colors in this rug are like a tequila sunset. I need this rug in my life!

Here is the more casual side of Haute Mess featuring baseball caps, bomber jackets and basics.

This concludes my wandering of uptown Whittier! I hope you enjoyed, and please go support local small businesses and tell them I sent you!

Btw I saw this Psychic Hut on the way home and thought it was the cutest thing ever! I want to live in it!

FAB FRIDAY ROUNDUP

Hi Ya'll its Friday so I have another fab roundup for you to get inspired for the holiday gifting season and maybe you'll find a favorite new inspirational Instagram account to follow as well! I love to support local business and passion projects because as you all know I have one myself. So grab a cup of coffee and get cozy because you dont want to miss these awesome IG accounts!

For some reason I always seem to find things on the ground and I happened to find a business card for Lovely Charmed Finds in the parking lot of my mall. Her business cards feature a beautifully colorful feather and I instantly picked it up because feathers are a sign of guardian angels. Lovely charmed finds has car charms and keychains as well as ornaments and they can be custom designed.

Flea style is one of those dreamy IG accounts that makes you want to travel and wear all your vintage clothing all at the same time! I originally started to follow her account because she has a creative retreat and I was interested in attending. She has recently opened an online store. Go check her out!

Soft Goods is a traveling pretty and purposeful boutique with soft pinks and frilly scents around every corner. I cannot wait to visit their brick and mortar location in Anaheim, CA! It looks amazing in pictures and I bet its even better in person.

I discovered Blue Bohemian candles at the Mercantile Market and fell in love. The owner Robin is very personable and has great taste when it comes to fragrance combinations. You will be so happy with any candle you purchase from her. I personally love the Saffron Patchouli!

Check out Mendez Manor a lifestyle blogger and vintage enthusiast! She makes old look new and fresh and has a great collection of housewares and decor for sale, so go see what she has in store.

First off let me say I have one of these watches and I love it! If you are into fun chockers, quirky jewelry and hand painted furniture check out Celias Reloved! She has a talent when it comes to the paint brush!

Pretty Woman

When your boyfriend says out loud that he has a crush on 90's Richard Gere you know you can have at least one thing to agree on before you go back to thinking he's crazy and what not. And yes he is a bit crazy but I love that he can openly admire another man for his beauty and say "you know what I would do to him?" and I say "WHAT?" and he responds with "Shake his hand!" This is my life on a daily basis...how I have managed this long I dont know...probably because he's cute and thinks my mediocre cooking is amazing! So now that you know about the little backstory you can daydream about 90's Richard Gere with us, because lets face it, he was hot! And Julia Roberts too!

Do you remember the first time you watched Pretty Woman? I remember watching it with my friend and her older sister. We got to watch and do a lot of things that older kids did because her sisters were nice enough to let us tag along. The parts that stood out to me the most were the bath scene and the shopping experience, and who could forget those boots! I have a pair of hooker boots from Payless that are TDF!

I totally have to re watch this film and get my 90s fashion inspiration going...I mean the wardrobe alone has me wanting to watch it plus here are 20 things you never knew about the film

Ok I'm running short on time so enjoy the Pretty Woman Soundtrack and Well catch up later!

Flea Market Styling and Photo Shoot Inspirations

One of my favorite things to do once I source my items is to have a photo shoot! Photo shoots are a great way for me to practice styling my treasures for my next flea market and to showcase my items online. I sometimes notice a theme with my latest collection, sometimes its a color, print or texture. Lately I have lots of wicker, yellow turquoise and fuchsia. Bright colors make me happy and I'm drawn to them when I'm sourcing new pieces for my collection.

Below is a glimpse into my growing collection of vintage and great second hand pieces I have recently discovered and listed on my online store. Take a look and feel inspired to decorate colorfully.

Vegas Dress Shopping at Charlotte Russe

Earlier this month I went on a trip to Vegas which was amazing to say the least, but I was so concerned about what to wear I was going a little cookoo! I hadn't been to Las Vegas since I was 15 or so and I had no idea what to expect really. I just knew that people that usually go are drinking a lot and wearing close to nothing to the clubs! I was at my wits end trying to find a dress for our crazy Night club outing and I ended up walking into Charlotte Russe and thought what the heck so I tried on a few dresses. Can you guess which one I went home with??

Nuetral, sexy style.

Fun, bright and flirty.

Outerspace meets club girl.

Greek goddess.

SO which one was your have? And which one do you think I picked?

Flea Market Finds

Hi guys! Its been a while since I last did a blog post, right? Well everything is going good for me, just been really busy working fulltime and doing my side business which is my online shop as well as flea marketing. I'm really happy that I got back into this because a few years ago I started and somehow just stopped...so it feels really awesome to have my hobby that brings me some extra cash as well as a sense of creative freedom! Thank you for everyone who has ever bought something from me, supported my flea markets, like my pics on instagram or has been a follower of this blog, it's all very special to me, so thank you.

I'm super excited to announce I will be at the Mercantile flea market Saturday Oct 1st!
I had taken a couple months off to start collecting again and I have an amazing little spread for ya'll!

One of my favorite things to do once I collect merchandise to sell is have a little photo shoot to bring it all together and tell a story. The most recent round up of treasures seems to have a theme...lots of wicker, bold colors like fuchsia as well as textures and prints!

A lot of people ask where I find my items that I sell! Well, I find my items all over the place from thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales, consignment, and from my own collection of vintage apparel and décor. If I don't love it, I don't want it in my collection...I've become more picky over what I take into my collection as its a representation of me.

So now that you know a little about my process of how I pick items and have fun photographing them and selling them, take a look at what I have to bring to the next Mercantile Flea Market on Saturday October 1st!

Here is a little spread of what I will have for sale at the market, also most items are listen on my online shop for sale as well. Doggy not included!

Vintage hand made Apron

Vintage Tribal Backpack

Vintage Straw Bag

Vintage Camel Cardigan

Retro Cherokee Tote

Wicker wine rack

Vintage embroidered tunic

Daisy crop top

Day Off Indulgences

I believe I deserve nice things and so do you! You work hard, spend 40 hrs a week on your feet and another 7 driving dealing with whatever life throws at you...so indulge once in a while!
You're worth it!

DAY OFF #1

I think that my love language is a mix of 3 different styles: words of affirmation, gifts & of course time. Since I'm a Taurus I love to indulge, I think that is why I struggle with some things in my life including my fluctuating weight as well as spending too much money on coffee! With that said, I have lost quite a bit of weight, and I don't get coffee every day. The picture above is a collection of nice things I gave to myself as a gift...I had a crazy week at work so it was well deserved!

This rose water chocolate from Mothers Market was crispy, tart and great for a sweet tooth!

I picked up this cute little Gardenia scented mason jar candle from Celias Reloved! Find her on INstagram @Celiasreloved

I headed over to Trader Joes for some Vino...yum!

Oh and of course fresh flowers!

And once again, another Gardenia product! This body wash from Mothers Market is great for sensitive skin!

DAY OFF #2

I have family in town so it was chore day so before I could do anything fun I had to finish my cleaning and then it was off to have fun!
My forst pit stop was The Aussie Bean in Old Town Orange! How could I not take a pic of this cute latte!

Stopping in one of the many vintage stores!

So much vintage, so little time!

I found so many amazing dresses!

This bag was soo cool! Beaded perfection!

Vintage platforms with embroidery, sigh!

Not every day off is filled up with this much fun stuff, this just happened to be an extra amazing week! Whats your favorite thing to do on a day off? Any great places in Orange County? Thrift stores? Coffee shops? DO TELL!
