Machu Picchu

I just thought I would share with you some fo the places Im studying in my Cultures of Latin Amercian class. This is by far my favorite academic class ever! Right now we are learning about Machu Picchu. This site is located in the Mountain sides of a valley in Peru. It is a pre Columbian site that was inhabited by the Inca in 1462. They are reffered to as the inca because their Kings name was Inca. Anthropologists cannot decide ion what exactly Machu Picchu was used for. On July 7th 2007 Machu Picchu was declared one of the 7 wonders of the world.

For some reason this site stands out to me compared to others, it is powerful and immense. My class is goign here for spring break, however I cannto make it. Too much money :( Watch the video to see a small glimpse fo what it is like here.

For all the ladies who love Johnny Depp

Just thought I would show you my alter ego "Jack Sparrow" haha yes this is me.

my alter ego.
Hot or Not...you tell me :)

What are you doing for your birthday

Even though I'm far from being a kid I still celebrate my birthday every year with a party. It is a tradition that I have a theme and this year is no exception. Ive had a few people already ask me "So what are you doing this year?"

Well I'm trying to decide what exactly, I'm leaning towards these themes: a Latin Jazz party, Spring Samba Party or Gypsy theme.

All in all I want a BBQ, outside seating, lights in the trees, Mojitos and Latin Music(not the circus kind) I like Latin jazz such as Astrud Gilberto, Gypsy Kings etc.

I cannot wait to transform the backyard into a tropical paradise.

Cactus Chic

Today in SoCal I felt a surge fo Summer come straight at me. There was a slightly dryer feel in the air today. The wind was blowing a sweet warm breeze and I just couldnt help the urge to drink water and Iced tea. I mean it could have just been the fact that I was drinking last night for ST. Patricks day or that I wore all black today for work. Either way I really liked the feeling that was coming from the warm weather.

I believe that weather can change a persons mood drastically. There is a term called S.A.D. Seasonal Adjustment Disorder: a person who is deeply affected by the weather season to season. Whenever there is a change in weather where I live in Socal everyone notices immediatly and it either makes them happy when its hot, or sad/angry when it is cold or raining.

Living in Oc you see many Cacti in the front yards of homes or in parking lots. I was inspired by the colors of the Cactus garden in my yard and made an outfit based around it.

Cactus Chic

This is what I would be seen wearing if I were in Santa Fe or just hanging out in Santa Barbara at the missions.
*have you ever been inspired by something you saw in nature? Sometimes that is where you can find the best color combinations that came together naturally.

Getaway in Style

If I had my way I would not be working today and just go off to a hot place near the water. And this is what I would be wearing. Two options: The daytime trekking around the island Nautical look, and then the Night life dancing in the streets with a Mojito in hand kind look.

Sailing takes me away

Sailing takes me away - by Mslay on Polyvore.com

I pretty much based this whole look off of these shoes which I think are really unique. I feel as if no one would be wearing them except myself. They kind inspired the whole look, all the colors were pulled straight from them.
As for the night life look, red hot polka dots can do me no wrong. Easy white espadrilles to stay on my feet all night and not make them ache later on. And some sprinklings of simple island elegance The Palm tree necklace and the coral bracelet to top it all off.
Where do you wanna go to get away? And what will you be wearing?

Cuban Getaway

When I find myself getting so caught up in my hum-drum life in O.C. I day dream of tropical places that I have never been to before. Florida is the most "Tropical" place I've been. It is also one of the most boring places I've been. I remember when I went to Key west it was one of the best trips to Florida Ive ever been on. That is when I went to the Southern most part of America and saw...CUBA.
From that day forth I have wanted to catch a closer look , well more like i want to be there!

If the colors look intense I wonder if the people are just intense as well. I could fit right in with them. I would wear only bright clothing and white linen pants. Espadrilles would come in handy too.

The smell of cigars is one I favor most of all the smoke smells. It is a deep earthy sweet concoction, and you don't inhale it.
Homes in colors of the rainbow, not all the same in a drab dull beige.
I could make friends with the Havana Brown cat. He is just like my cat back home.
Wearing no makeup just the glow from the sun and the dewiness from the heat.

I could be the token white girl in a country full of mysterious men, but I already have my own mysterious Argentinian/American. All I would really want to do is dance dance dance and more dancing.

And it would pay off when I win a competition!

And then spend hours at the beach with that guy, maybe. Haha no I would be lounging in a hammock or drinking iced tea under a palm tree.

Summer, come quickly

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.
