Pretty Woman

When your boyfriend says out loud that he has a crush on 90's Richard Gere you know you can have at least one thing to agree on before you go back to thinking he's crazy and what not. And yes he is a bit crazy but I love that he can openly admire another man for his beauty and say "you know what I would do to him?" and I say "WHAT?" and he responds with "Shake his hand!" This is my life on a daily basis...how I have managed this long I dont know...probably because he's cute and thinks my mediocre cooking is amazing! So now that you know about the little backstory you can daydream about 90's Richard Gere with us, because lets face it, he was hot! And Julia Roberts too!

Do you remember the first time you watched Pretty Woman? I remember watching it with my friend and her older sister. We got to watch and do a lot of things that older kids did because her sisters were nice enough to let us tag along. The parts that stood out to me the most were the bath scene and the shopping experience, and who could forget those boots! I have a pair of hooker boots from Payless that are TDF!

I totally have to re watch this film and get my 90s fashion inspiration going...I mean the wardrobe alone has me wanting to watch it plus here are 20 things you never knew about the film!

Ok I'm running short on time so enjoy the Pretty Woman Soundtrack and Well catch up later!

Flea Market Finds

Hi guys! Its been a while since I last did a blog post, right? Well everything is going good for me, just been really busy working fulltime and doing my side business which is my online shop as well as flea marketing. I'm really happy that I got back into this because a few years ago I started and somehow just stopped...so it feels really awesome to have my hobby that brings me some extra cash as well as a sense of creative freedom! Thank you for everyone who has ever bought something from me, supported my flea markets, like my pics on instagram or has been a follower of this blog, it's all very special to me, so thank you.

I'm super excited to announce I will be at the Mercantile flea market Saturday Oct 1st!
I had taken a couple months off to start collecting again and I have an amazing little spread for ya'll!

One of my favorite things to do once I collect merchandise to sell is have a little photo shoot to bring it all together and tell a story. The most recent round up of treasures seems to have a theme...lots of wicker, bold colors like fuchsia as well as textures and prints!

A lot of people ask where I find my items that I sell! Well, I find my items all over the place from thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales, consignment, and from my own collection of vintage apparel and décor. If I don't love it, I don't want it in my collection...I've become more picky over what I take into my collection as its a representation of me.

So now that you know a little about my process of how I pick items and have fun photographing them and selling them, take a look at what I have to bring to the next Mercantile Flea Market on Saturday October 1st!

Here is a little spread of what I will have for sale at the market, also most items are listen on my online shop for sale as well. Doggy not included!

Vintage hand made Apron

Vintage Tribal Backpack

Vintage Straw Bag

Vintage Camel Cardigan

Retro Cherokee Tote

Wicker wine rack

Vintage embroidered tunic

Daisy crop top

GLOOMY DAY & TJ MAXX FINDS!

I felt the change, it's always the end of August and early September that I feel like Fall is creeping it's way in. It's in your coffee, your clothing stores and all over pinterest...we must face the inevitable, FALL IS COMING! The weather today was quite fitting, gloomy and a tad cooler, like a day at the beach in Spring. During my typical Coffee run I made a stop at TJ Maxx and was quite pleased with their BASIC BITCH selection :0

See for yourself!

This DKNY wrap top was cozy and I loved the berry/wine color! It was a bit pricey for what it was so I passed it along its way. And don't mind my stupid look on my face, should have cropped it out LOL

This sexy top by Lily White is perfect to throw on under a sweater or Leather Jacket and under 9 bucks SCORE!

This jacket was amazing and under 20 bucks! The brand is called BCNU

I really wanted a marled grey Sweater, this one by Poof was cute, but it kept rolling open and was itchy on the skin pass!

This top from Kim & Cami was actually pretty cute and I wanted it, but passed it up...maybe next time.

Hope this got you inspired to go shopping..hehe :) What do you think? Are you in on the nuetral/basics trend for fall?

Summer Musings!

Yeah of course summers almost over and I'm just getting around to talking about it on here. This summer wasn't AMAZING or anything...but it was spent with family and friends so I cant complain.

As usual it was gloomy in June, lots of clouds and walks to the coffee shop for their new cold brew coffee yum! I was counting down the days till mid June because I was going on my week long vacay from life/work/stress/life/stress/work you know... I'll be sharing more on that trip in a later post...

Basically I started my summer off by getting Loki a life vest! He's a boy but hot pink is just so much fun (and was the only one left in his size lol) he loves it as you can see. Many a day was spent by the pool or in it with a beer in hand and some relaxing world groove music in the background to tune out the sound of my anxious thoughts :0

Another favorite thing I did this summer was go for walks, weather on the trail or in the town I brought Loki with me and sometimes my crazy guy ;) some people said I looked like I lost weight, must be all the walking I do with the dog lately...however I feel like I gained it back from eating vicarious amounts of chips and sweet tea! Ooops!

I tried on almost every piece from the Summer collection at work and fell in love! Summer is my fav time to buy clothes! Everything looks good on me :) I bought quite a few pieces from this collection. Im actually wearing the green shorts as I write this! So go check out WHBM for the end of Summer SALE! Alrighty ya'll I have to get back to doing my house chores before it gets any later! Can't wait to share more!

Peace Out!

Palm Springs in 24 hrs REVISITED

First off I just want to say that I cannot believe that the post below is almost 3 years old. And secondly I'm most certainly craving some R&R in Palm Springs. I mean how can you resist the 80 degree temps in early Spring? Oh and the slew of women in funky resort wear celebrating a last night of freedom before marriage! There's tourists too, from all over the world! That's when you know its good!

So lets just step back three years in time and reminisce in an awesome trip I took with my mother to Palm Springs, CA!

How come all of a sudden my mother and I get along better than we ever have before in our lives?
Is it because we've come to realize were both outdoorsy people, as in we like to drink on our porch.
...
It is still a mystery, and one that I would rather not solve, because I love that we can get along. This is  something that most of my friends wouldn't be able to say about their mothers. Since we have evolved into a civilized mother daughter duo we went on a trip to Palm Springs, not just any trip, but a Palm Springs in 24 hrs trip! This was a trip of epic proportions, one which most would want to kill the other from so much fun packed into those 24 far too few hrs. We managed to get out alive and what we brought back were a shizz ton of photos and new memories.

Are you ready? Let's go.

In lol cat speak "In Southern Cali I can haz hot desert weather and snow capped San Jacinto Mtns!"

Lots of beverages were consumed during this trip, some soda, coffee, but mostly alcohol tea.

Our first major stop was at the lovely home decor boutique Distinctive Home PS. Loved the artwork on the walls, especially the 3D cube piece and the wrapped stools.  Lots of custom furniture, lighting fixtures, books, pillows And the owner was super friendly.

We took a nice long stroll through House 849's sculpture garden. There is something magical about turning an otherwise ordinary corner to discover strange shapes among the mountain view backdrop.

Intermission was spent laying poolside while being warmed up by the sun and swept away by the wind with a side of teenagers whose every other word was FUCK. So very relaxing.

Upon sundown we stepped out for the evening, having dinner and drinks at the Kaiser Grill. And then a nice stroll through the weekly street fair which was entertaining as usual.

Part of our Palm Springs in 24 hrs challenge was to pack as much in as we could. So later that night we slipped into the local casino. Neither my mother nor I play slots or any such betting so I took on the role of architectural photographer. At the time I was drawing reflected ceiling plans for project so this was great inspiration

The final destination of the night was The Riviera hotel. I had just a moment to run in and take photos since my mom was waiting in the car. But I can say from what I saw that this is one glam hotel. Definitely want to see more of what it has to offer.

The next morning came all too soon. I was in a grumpy mood since the "kids" in the room next to us were playing beer pong all night and slamming their door. And then at the pool...well never mind, lets just leave it at that.

My day got better because we found where the nudist hotel was! I will admit I was really excited to go inside those doors. I have been following The Terra Cotta Inn's blog and was intrigued. The staff was friendly, however no photos allowed inside. I wonder why?

It was back to the streets the remainder of the afternoon. There was a shop inside the El Paseo Plaza that caught our eye the day before so we had to go inside and check it out. Turns out the shop Not Neutral is not neutral at all with their super bright textiles, dinnerware, candle holders and garden accessories. We purchased two of the lime green candle holders because I couldn't resist.

With a little help from (I'm assuming Christopher of) Christopher Anthony Ltd (which had the most wonderful scented candles) we were able to make our way to our final destination, the coveted Korakia Pensione. This my friend is is one sexy, hip Mediterranean inspired hotel. I could see this as a perfect place for a honeymoon since the weather in CA isn't getting as hot as it used to.

I hope you enjoyed my ramblings about this one of a kind trip.
