Vitrina Salon & Spa

Last semester I took a lighting class and my final was to design and name a salon located in Beverly Hills CA. We got to use the actual floor plans for a salon that was being designed by my instructor. I decided to show you all my project. Let me know what you think.

Vitrina Salon & Spa has a warm color palate that instantly leads you into a chill state of mind. The lighting fixtures I chose are a blend of organic wood and metals that are both interesting to look at and give enough light for any given situation.

My inspiration for Vitrina Salon are the beach's and resorts of Ipanema, Brazil. There are subtle sensual hints of tasteful nudity within the space.

When you walk in look for the big hand, that is where the receptionist will be waiting to make an appointment for you. After doing so sit in a lovely floating rattan chair while the Vitrina prepares for your treatments.

All of the walls are covered in tranquilly chill artwork by REX RAY and a few vintage magazine travel ad's.

All fabric selections, pillows and candles used in the salon are are from Trina Turk.

The salons name "Vitrina" means return in Portuguese.

Here are some photos of me working on my designs and floor plan layout for Vatrina Salon & Spa.

Eat Pray Love

Alright so who else is excited to see this film next month?
I have to say that this summer hasnt really had too many movies that caught my attention so Im happy to have Eat, Pray, Love on the list of debuts. It will give me something to look forward to in August when summer starts swindling away because of Fall session.

Upon watching the trailer I was inspired to make a little outfit to wear when the day comes to go watch the film. Are you excited to see this film, or have you seen other films already that you thought were cool for summer?

Hawaiian Drama

Book me a flight to Hawaii because this dress is begging to get lei'd.

Yes I really did just say that, sorry for offending anyone but I'm so excited over this dress. I was at the Fullerton Mercantile flea market ad I saw this colorful dress in a sea of dark dreary rack of vintage clothes. I'm drawn to color like a vampire to blood so I had to check this dress out and see what the deal was.

Upon a closer look I knew this dress had to be mine so I walked over a mile to the closest ATM machine, I know its not that far, but it was hella hot today so a mile seemed like 4. Did I just say hella? Haha I never say that word but really today was the first really hot day in Socal.
I made my purchase and immediately started to think hmm where am I going to wear such a unique dress?
This is what I came up with
Palm Springs Dinner
&
My other crazy thought was I will save this dress for my wedding day!
ok enough day dreaming already...
Dont you just love when you find a piece of clothing that you know is going to be special.
The pattern is really unique, colorful & bold.
I think Trina Turk would be proud of my purchase!

Fullerton Farmers Market

For the last few weeks I have made it a point to get out and have some fun, despite being in the "I'm a student and have no life because I work every weekend" funk that I was in. One of the best cures for the student with no life is the Fullerton Farmers Market. Why you ask? Well lets see you can have a beer, buy handmade soaps, enjoy dinner outside, run into people, see lots of pets and take photos. So sometimes this is all I need to be put back into a good mood before I clock into wok Friday-Monday. Take a look at what I experienced at the farmers market last week.

This was the sunset that evening, very beautiful indeed.

I assure you it was not raining that night.

This dog is so very cute, he looks like he is smiling just for me.

Street fair people walking on by, having a relaxing ole time.

The line just kept getting longer by the hour.

A rainbow of bikes on the rack.

Ohh look its me, and my neon colored flowers.

Block printed textiles, they were so beautiful. I will be doing a post on them so you can see where to purchase them.

Perfect prints for a summer beach house.

Lots of exotic prints for wrap dresses.

Such a cute bag.

One of the older office buildings in Fullerton.

Cute twin doggies, smiling for the camera.

I hope you make a trip to the Fullerton Farmers Market

Frida Kahlo

Let's talk about Frida Kahlo.
Who is she: One of the most influental female painters of the 20th century.
Where is she from: Born July 6th 1907 in Coyoacan near Mexico City.
Her Work: Frida stopped studying medicine and began a full-time painting career.

Frida Kahlo's home, which is also known as La Casa Azul is now a Museum that is open to the public.

In the Museum you can walk through her home and check out the interior design and artworks however there is no photography allowed inside. Outside is a wonderful garden and courtyard as well as a cafe.

In the meantime check out the move "Frida" starring Salma Hayek. This film will help you to better understand the reasoning and inspiration behind Frida's risque, erotic and pain filled self portraits.

Skyline Drive, Fullerton, CA homes at sunset

While I was leaving class the other evening the sunset was so beautiful so I decided to take the long way home to enjoy the view. I drove through the lovely Skyline Drive in Fullerton California to get these shots. I live in the area so its pretty standard to drive through here. But tonight everything and every house had a wonderful glow to it. Take a look at the wonderful homes in the hills of Fullerton Below.
A fun baby blue and bright white Colonial style home with Greek pediment as well as pillars and french windows.
Like I said the sunset...
The view facing the Beach as well as south Orange County.
A simple Southwestern design: Pillars, clay tile roof.
Mediterranean style home with a variety of windows and a clay tile roof, and window coverings to block the sun from the west.
A really long and narrow driveway...no thanks.
A fun 60's Cottage in Mustard Yellow with a really nice and unique Garage door with lat ice windows.
Yet another Mediterranean home.

A wonderful way to disguise your garage.

Fun Mediterranean Look with a turret.

Mediterranean, south west and Spanish design incorporated within this home.

A southwestern Villa with a Spanish archway and dark wood gate and pillars.

Elegant Mediterranean home with archways and staircase really add volume.
