Wandering Uptown Whittier

Some days are just meant for wondering, don't you think so too? I don't have the luxury of dropping my full time job and traveling the world so instead I randomly go on what you might call day trips, er more like a couple hour trips to get my mind and body away from the norm of daily life. To me one of the most fun things is to find something new even if its a shop I found on Instagram  that is a 25 min drive away. I think it all goes back to our animal instincts of Hunter & Gatherer. 

I have been following this store Local Fixture on Instagram for quite some time. All of their pictures are so cute and the products they carry are some of my favorite brands! They have a great online presence and I was so pleased when I walked into the store to see that it is just as inviting to curious minds and the ambiance is inviting! Their entry table features Frasier Fir candles that smell like Christmas! 

If you love Voluspa candles they have every scent and their reasonably priced. My favorites are sake lemon flower and Santiago huckleberry but honestly I could smell all of them and be in heaven. 

The center of the store features children and baby clothing, accessories, books and toys. You will be saying that's cute like a million times. Trust me, I did! 

One thing I really liked about this store is there is a built in coffee shop! They serve Stumptown roasters which is always a smooth coffee in my opinion. Anthony was my Barista, he was so knowledgeable and friendly and he made me a killer latte! 

Oh look, there's my latte! Check out Local Fixture for the cute gifts and goodies and stay for the coffee! 

I walked by this window front and was attracted to the simplicity of it so I of course had to go in and look at Haute Mess.

Haute Mess is two boutiques in one and features a boho luxe side as well as a more casual everyday side. Love the space how light and airy it feels. 

The colors in this rug are like a tequila sunset. I need this rug in my life!

You Need To Visualize

   They say you need to visualize what it is that you want in life. Well, here it is. I want to work for Anthropologie. I have for a while, and for the past few years been working on building my portfolio and style as a visual merchandiser and display artist for small business. I feel that it is time for me to become a part of something big, something that is part of the big picture. Become a member of a tight knit creative world where perfectionism is a godsend, and quirkiness is encouraged. So when I applied last week, I knew in my heart that this was where I wanted to be and that the hard work I have done will pay off. But you can still wish me luck on landing an interview for their open position :) 

   The second part of of getting where you want to be in life is immersing yourself in it. So this past week I went to 4 different Anthropologie stores. I went to look at and indulge in their displays, merchandise, vibe, and overall vibes. What I loved most is that though each store had a similar theme, you could see the uniqueness of each crafted display. I visited the stores in South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island, Pasadena and The Grove.

     The third part of this process is to ask questions. So upon arriving to one of the locations I asked about a question I had in regards to applying online. And the following day I received an email from a manager. I instantly felt that this was working in my favor. I'm a believer in the secret. And the law of attraction. So I'm going to keep doing the three parts of this process, and I encourage you to do so too!

Front and side entrances featured an abstract reptile design.  Those blue hues are breathtaking.

An enticing view upon entering, we have spring embroidered, dyed, scents, and a floral backdrop. Everything you need to bring you right into a spring Sunday afternoon.

Dia De Los Art Walk

Mother Mary and Cats eyes oh my.

    I really love this tank I found at Urban Outfitters. Normally I don't shop there because they are over priced and "hipstered" out. But this tank was calling my name. It was the perfect thing to wear for Dia De Los Muertos in Downtown Santa Ana. So I wore it and guess what? I got a ton of compliments! Also the cat eye ring added an extra creepo vibe to my already strange look I was rocking that night.

Thankful For Fashion

    This year I'm so thankful for a new job opportunity in the world of fashion and visual merchandising! Working at Roadkill Ranch has been a part of my totally new positive outlook on life. I work with some pretty amazing people that have a great attitude and work so hard, its very inspiring.

    I have never felt this happy or fashionable in so long! I've been taking my style more seriously, as in...not letting myself go like I was for the past couple of years. VIVA LA FASHION!

Part 1: Client Assessment 

     My client is my sister; Leigh a 23 year old female form Southern California. Leigh’s body is an hourglass shape that can also come off as a pear shape depending on her weight. Her body measurements are 33” chest, 26” waist and a 35” hip with a cross shoulder measurement of 17”. Her head is 8” and her height is a total of 64” also known as 5’3”. In order for her body to be perfectly proportioned she must be at least 16” per proportion. From feet to knee she is 18” knee t hip 12” knee to chest 17” and chest to head 17”. So her shortest part of her body is her knee to hip area coming in 4 inches shorter than they should be. 

Fashionable rainy day

Twas the first rainy day of the Fall season and everyone was in a "I love this kinda weather" mood. I had been up the night before creating my Raffia pendant lights for the front window. Somehow I managed to pull a cute outfit together that day but I could not for the life of me find my polka dot rain boots :(

Ombre Ole

Ever heard the term "ombre" and wondered what does that mean? 

Ombre is a French term that means shade, usually from dark to light. The ombre effect can be achieved through dip dying, or actually weaving different tones of one color. It is less hippie and more refined look opposed to tie dye. Im usually not a blue person per say, but I absolutely love how it looks in the ombre effect. I instantly think of the ocean, blue turquoise white ohh lala lovely.

Louis Vuitton Cruise 2011

Upon further inspection of the L.V. Cruise 2011 look book I have noticed there is no such cruise ship in sight. This photo shoot has no connection to h20 in fact because it's shot in the middle of a desert, Palm Springs to be exact. Isn't this ironic? Either way I don't mind because I love Palm Springs Architecture, Landscape and lifestyle.

Oh I think I understand why it's called "Cruise" because when in Palm Springs you cruise along the streets in a old Buick while dripping in sweet sweat and uber-expensive L.V. frocks.

4 women one Jcrew inspired look

I noticed a few days ago that Dina from My Superfluities posted about her outfits inspired by old Jcrew catalogs, before they went wacko. Then I saw that Slastena from About All and Nothing At All did her take on the same look. Then today while getting dressed I thought hmm I wanna try this look out too. So here we all are in the same look. Isnt it kinda funny? It's like adult uniforms. I felt soo preppy wearing this today.

What do you think did we get it right? BTW the only Jcrew item Im wearing is the tank and its form like 3 years ago possibly 4. Im looking forward to another look alike outfit. Makes getting dressed easy. And since I live in CA I feel like I stand out against all of the ugg boots, hoodies and yoga pants.
